Welding Schools in Charlotte

Central Piedmont Community College is offering an Associate’s Degree Welding program at its James Turner Institute of Welding Technology.

The welding program covers both theoretical and practical aspects of this trade.

Graduates are ready for employment in a variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, and fabrication.

The school also offers access to student clubs such as the American Welding Society competition.

Students need to complete 74 credit hours and can graduate from the program in five semesters if they attend full-time

Local 421 is a charter of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipefitting serving North and South Carolina.

They offer apprenticeships and continuing education classes for those who want a career in the field of plumbing, pipefitting, welding, and brazing.

Members also have access to a welding pre-apprenticeship program that can be completed in 18 weeks.

This tuition-free class will help increase your first-year apprentice salary from $18.21 to $19.72 per hour, according to the organization’s website.

Apprentices also earn full benefits- two pensions, health, dental and vision insurance.

PIT Instruction & Training offers welding and fabrication courses for students who want to start a career in industries where skilled welders are in demand.

The school offers the following classes:

• Pit Weld U-100- a class that focuses on basic metal cutting and fabrication techniques, MIG and TIG welding in mild steel and aluminum applications
• Pit Weld U-200- a course that covers the SMAW (stick) welding technique, advanced torch cutting methods, and blueprint reading.
• Pit Weld U-300- fabrication class that teaches students how to work with equipment commonly used in fabrication shops
• Pit Weld U-400- a class that focuses on welding pipe

Graduates are also ready to take the American Welding Society certification tests.
