South Technical High School

South Technical High School is offering a welding program that teaches students how to design, engineer, build and troubleshoot metal fabrication issues.

Students may also receive college credit through Ranken Technical College and State Technical College.

The first year of training consists of classroom time and lab time in proportions that vary between 26-50% while the second year is dedicated 76% to lab time.

A minimum of 7 core credits is required for graduation.

St. Charles Adult & Commnuity Education

St. Charles Adult & Community Education is offering several welding programs and other community education classes.

The school’s catalog includes the following welding courses:

  • MIG and Flux-Cored Welding
  • Arc Welding
  • TIG Welding

Courses costs between $575 and $675.

Students also have to pay a $124 textbook/lab fee.

Lewis & Clark Career Center

Lewis & Clark Career Center is offering a Combination Welding program for students who want to start a career in welding or metalworking.

The program covers topics such as oxyfuel cutting, Arc, Mig, and Tig welding, plasma cutting, and air cutting processes.

The processes are taught in all welding positions and on all five basic weld joints.

Students also learn blueprint reading, weld symbols, and other useful skills.

The school also offers a lab designed to simulate a real welding industry setting.

American Welding Academy

American Welding Academy is offering welding classes in Union.

The school’s catalog includes the following courses:

  • Pipe Welding and Fitting Course – 20-week program
  • Fabricators Welding and Fitting Course -12-week program
  • Structural Welding and Fitting Course- 10-week program

Custom courses are also available.

The school offers a 15:1 student to instructor ratio.

St. Louis Community College

St. Louis Community College is offering a Skilled Trades Industrial Occupations Technology program that gives students the opportunity of earning an associate degree or certificate.

The program includes on-the-job training.

Areas of concentration include aerospace assembly worker, machine technician apprenticeship, sheet metal worker, carpenter apprenticeship, electronic alarm technician.

Although this is not a welding school, students may take welding classes in St. Louis through this program.
